The Reception Team

Class Teacher - Miss Gainey

Teaching Assistants - Miss Kinsey and Mrs Cavanagh

I hope you have all had a lovely half-term break and are looking to a busy half-term in the build up to Easter. We will be learning about celebrations that are important to us and our families. We will also listen to each other talk and share our emotions.

I will be at the Reception entrance gate every morning to welcome the children and take any messages. Please come and see me if you need anything.

Many thanks,

Miss Gainey and the Reception Team.

Important Notes

Please make sure your child has a PE kit in school everyday. This should include a pair of blue shorts, a white T-shirt and a pair of black pumps. We will have PE on a Monday and Tuesday morning.

Book Bags

Blue book bags should be brought into school everyday. Reading books will be changed on a Monday and Friday. Please read and discuss the book with your child.

Homework is given out every Friday and must be returned to school by the following Wednesday.

We like to get outside in all weathers in Reception. Your child needs a pair of wellies that can be left in school for rainy days. They must also wear a waterproof coat with a hood everyday. Please make sure your child has their name in all their clothing.

Chester Zoo

We had a fantastic day in Chester Zoo!

We saw lots of different animals including lions, camels, a komodo dragon, monkeys and George the giraffe (who is 5 metres tall).

As well as looking at different animals, we were able to compare different habitats too.

Learning outside of the classroom

We are passionate about reading for pleasure at Banks Road. To support reading, children in Reception have phonic lessons on a daily basis. The following links will be used in school and sent home to consolidate learning this half-term.
