Can My Child Get Free School Meals?
Nursery
Children attending our Nursery full-time may be eligible for free school meals if you receive a qualifying benefit.
Reception, Year 1 & Year 2
All children in these year groups receive universal free school meals, regardless of income.
Important: If you receive a qualifying benefit, please still apply—this helps the school access additional funding (Pupil Premium) to support your child.
Year 3 to Year 6
Children in these year groups may be eligible for free school meals if you or your partner receive one of the following benefits:
- Universal Credit (household income less than £7,400/year after tax, excluding benefits)
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (without Working Tax Credit, and income no more than £16,190/year)
How Long Will My Child Receive Free School Meals?
If your child qualifies under legacy benefits, there’s no change.
If you’re receiving or moving to Universal Credit, your child will continue to receive free school meals until the end of their current phase of education (e.g. until they finish primary school), even if your income changes.
