What are we learning this half term?

English – This half term, we will be studying The Hound of the Baskervilles by Grahame Baker-Smith. The children will be writing a cliff-hanger narrative and a formal report.

Maths – This half term in maths, we will focus on multiplication and division, including multiplying four-digit numbers by two-digit numbers and short division. In our fractions unit, we will be multiplying and dividing fractions.

Science – Our science topic this half term is Forces.

History – This half term, we will be studying Vikings 1 – Lady of the Mercians.

Geography – Throughout this half term, we will be learning about Migration.

RE – In RE, we will be exploring Christianity 6: Living Christian Tradition.

PSHE – Please see the attached overview for this year’s PSHE learning.

Art – This half term in art, we will be exploring mixed media landscapes.

PE – PE will take place on Mondays this half term, and our focus will be tennis.

Music – Every Tuesday, Year 5 children will practise their string instruments. Children are required to bring their instruments to school on this day.
