Science at Banks Road
Royal InstitutionScience in Schools
Our children in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two were very lucky that a visitor from Royal Institution’s Science in Schools came to our school to lead an assembly all about renewable energy. What a 'wow' Science moment!
Egg Hatching Experience
The children across our whole school observed chick eggs hatch, and then the chicks grow over two weeks. Children from EYFS - Year 6 completed work linked to core knowledge from their Animals topic and the chicks. We also voted for the best chick names. These winning names were: Shelly, Shakespeare, Spiderchick, Spring, Eggward, Sir Chirps A Lot, Chickster, Daffodil and Attenborough.
Country Trust
Year 4 were very lucky to work with Lisa from Country Trust. They learned what it takes to run a market stall – picking produce to sell, pricing, advertising and how to sell. Then they prepared the produce and sold it to other classes. It was great!
Chester Zoo - Sustainable Palm Oil
Years 2, 3, 4 and Reception gained a wealth of knowledge on sustainable palm oil when Chester Zoo organised a number of workshops and visits to our school. Reception were particulary curious to learn about the Rainforest habitat.
