Banks Road Primary School Celebrates Another Successful IQM Centre of Excellence Review!
We are delighted to share the wonderful news that our latest Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) report has arrived—and it is full of praise for our children, staff and community. Following a comprehensive review on 5th February 2026, Banks Road Primary School has once again been recognised as an IQM Centre of Excellence, with a recommendation to move towards Flagship Status at our next review.
The assessor described Banks Road as “an inclusive and nurturing school where the needs of pupils are at the core of all that they do.”

💛 Inclusion at the Heart of Everything
The review celebrates our unwavering commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive. The assessor noted that:
- All stakeholders view school life “through a child‑centred lens.”
- Our inclusive ethos drives our curriculum, values, relationships and decision‑making.
- There is a strong sense of community, belonging and unity throughout the school.
🏫 An Exceptional Learning Environment
The assessor praised the calm, purposeful and beautifully curated atmosphere across our school:
- Classrooms are described as “pared-back, low‑stimulation spaces that promote concentration and engagement.”
- New adaptations, such as glass partitions, provide bright, flexible learning areas for targeted support.
- Displays throughout the building celebrate children’s individuality, heritage and achievements, helping build pride and identity.
👨👩👧 Strong, Nurturing Relationships
Positive relationships were highlighted as one of our strongest features:
- Staff demonstrate outstanding knowledge of every pupil, going “above and beyond to support them.”
- Parents shared that staff “can’t do enough for them” and that children are cared for “throughout their journey at Banks Road.”
- Pupils spoke about feeling safe, supported and proud to be part of the Banks Road family.
🌍 Rich Curriculum & Community Engagement
Our broad, creative and inclusive curriculum received excellent feedback:
- Leaders ensure diversity and representation are woven through subjects and high-quality texts.
- Engagement with specialist organisations—such as The Anthony Walker Foundation—enhances children’s personal development.
- The assessor praised the exceptional provision for extracurricular activities, residentials and enrichment events, describing how staff have “pushed opening up the school to the community.”
🤝 Outstanding Community Partnerships
The report recognises the many ways we work with—and welcome—our wider community:
- A vibrant programme of school festivals, showcases and sporting events has strengthened community spirit.
- Our minibus has opened up citywide opportunities, allowing pupils to participate in competitions, cultural events and educational visits.
- Families are welcomed warmly from the earliest stages, with Early Years playing a central role in building relationships from the very first visit.
🧠 A Culture of Positivity & Wellbeing
The school’s approach to wellbeing, behaviour and emotional development was celebrated throughout the report:
- Growth mindset and mindfulness practices are embedded and having a clear impact.
- A strong pastoral team and graduated response ensure pupils’ SEMH needs are understood and supported.
- Thrive, Zones of Regulation and therapeutic provision such as The Quiet Place were highlighted as key strengths.
- Staff wellbeing is prioritised through visible, consistent leadership and a dedicated Wellbeing Ambassador.
